The design made me think it was high on love. Maybe if the red heart was on the other end, and a 'hollow' heart on this end?

Sounds like me. I always say I'm running on E when I've got like no engery or I don't feel well or whatever. This also reminds me of how crappy by day as been.

But still ... I like it ... I want it.

Point taken squintygirl. I guess initially i was mimicking the fuel gauge in a car which typically has the gas pump icon on the left. Despite the title, I like that it's ambiguous and could work either way.

Yes it appears to be almost full - towards the full red heart. Very cute, I like! $5

I would like some more shirt color options cause the black and the content of the design just screams emo : /

or maybe put the heart at the bottom and have "e" on one end and "f" on the other? i like the concept though

I'll assume the blur is intentional, considering the ink color selection
djklane
djklane on Jul 20 '06
Yes, it's intentional. kinda meant to look tilted back into space. Although maybe it should be more drastic. This is my first submission so I thought i needed to follow the provided template exactly. Otherwise, I would have included color variations and a closer view of the design. Now I know. Thanks for sharing your opinions everybody.

i think the heart definitely needs to be situated on the opposite side of the gauge, regardless of where the needle is set. it just makes sense that way.

or perhaps a full heart on the right side, and an empty heart outline on the left.
djklane
djklane on Jul 21 '06
I could position the needle in the middle and title it "half-a-tank" - then it wouldn't matter which side the heart was on. The message would change though.

how about a full heart on one side, and an outline of a heart on the other.

Sigh. Low on love too, man.

I like the idea of having an outline of a heart on the left side and a full heart on the right. It makes the message more clear. I'm glad others agree.

surreal_blue on Jul 23 '06
Because we read left to right I think others want to change the position for a sort of element of surprise. "How about a full heart on one side, and an outline of a heart on the other." said chiizukun I liked that suggestion. I LOVE the idea, but I really feel like there could have been cooler effects here. You could have added a glare, a back lighting, the place where the "hand" pivots. I understand it is a simple graphic, but besides integrity why wouldn't I just draw it on a shirt myself?

i agree will most in that i think the heart needs to be on the other side or just somewhere else, a lot of cars have the fuel symbol just like above and to the left of the notches

Reverse it to be low on love, other then that simple enough to be effective.

I like the idea of an empty heart and a full heart on opposite ends.

You should put the heart in the middle of the gauge, like where they put the mph or rpm on the dials in cars. That way it shows that it's the "heart" gauge.

oh, I love the idea of being "low on love," but yeah, the heart being on the left side confused me a bit. I loved squintygirls idea. I think it's a pretty good execution and WONDERFUL idea. With tweaking, I would buy this in a second.

This reminds me of the Sims. I would love this if it was a little thought bubble with a cross through the loveheart alla Sims.

Do the full heart on the right and an outline on the left and I'd so buy it!
