Where is the flash key? Nice idea.

SuperPope on Jun 19 '06
Natural selection wiped out the ZIP disk...that was more of an evolutionary sidestep. :)

Anyway, let me see if I can beat everybody else to the punch: "I'd like this design a lot better without the text."

Drop the text.

It's definitely better without the text.

You'd have to shrink the other graphics, but I agree with hans1247, the last one should be one of those usb flash drives.

A USB thumb drive (small, rectangular aspect ratio) might look unbalanced at the end of a row of square-aspect-ratio items.

I fourth or fifth ditching the text, tho. $5 given your personal note :)

yep, yep...needs no text.

I don't know if nerdy is cool anymore. But keep the text.

what about the dvd and the usb drive?
pencilgrin
pencilgrin on Jun 19 '06
punch card, cassette in front, and those rectangular shapes would balance a flash key at the end.

Yeah, my prof. remembers the days when he used a cassette tape to save data for his TI computer. You should really include the Punch Card, Cassette, and Flash Drive. Lose the Zip.

you forgot the flash drive!

I like it, but I have to admit, that without the flash card, it does seem dated.

Of course, WITH the flash card, it'll probably be dated in 5 years anyways.
iLikePie
iLikePie on Jun 20 '06
I just wouldn't wear this... way nerdy and doesn't really have much to say (other than, "yes, storage has changed") so for me there's not much appeal.

Dex1138 on Jun 20 '06
And the 8" floppy? No love!

LOL

I think I'd actually like a nerdier shirt showing the more obscure storage mediums. But I do like this.

I'm actually old enough to remember loading games on my TI with cassettes. :\

I agree drop the text and without a flash drive it seems dated.

i really hate how on most shirts people are like DROP THE TEXT!1111, but without the text, it wouldnt make hardly any sense to be honest. Maybe I'm just not as internet nerdy as the rest of you here.

lazesummerstone on Jun 21 '06
People, people, flashdrives just wouldn't look good in comparison with everything else, it's like that 'drop the text' comment, in which I'm assuming people don't like the text because it 'looks bad'. And if you're afraid of it being dated, you can just imagine that the CD or DVD is using some newfangled blueray technology or something.

less text, more stuff (where's the giant laserdisk at the front?)

there should be a usb drive!

You could take out the zip disk and put a compact flash card (they're squarish) at the end...

highpockets on Jun 21 '06
if the text stays "mass storage" needs to go and have evolution alone, otherwise no text needed.

Keep it as it is, and follow Highpockets' advice. Evolution alone will do fine. Masterpiece, composition-wise as well as idea and colours!

vistamonster
vistamonster on Jun 22 '06
I agree on dropping the text. maybe tiny arrows between them to indicate progress. It would be a shame to drop the zip disk. Anybody who was doing design 5+ years ago remembers those very fondly.

Doesn't bother me that the usb memory stick is missing. it makes the shirt a little more retro.
evrfixedmark
evrfixedmark on Jun 22 '06
i also say it needs a usb flash stick.
JerryHatTrick
JerryHatTrick on Jun 23 '06
I like Jeanicious's idea of just evolution.

@injection: If you need the text to understand it why would you wear such a shirt?

$5.

you should go extremely old-school to tape drives.

i dunno, try adding one (like the tape drive) and making them go from small to large? probly not tho, its a good idea
