ok i read something interesting earlier today, and thought i would quickly edit it a bit and mention it here:
Christians: Stop taking things so personally. You're giving the rest of us Christians a bad name. Learn to laugh at yourself. I think all the uproar from Christians is symptomatic of a more disturbing trend. More and more Christians seem to think that affirmation from our culture is where they will find their power. Since when do religions need affirmation from television stations, or tshirts? That's a little shallow, don't you think? What we should be doing is practicing our devotion and letting our changed lives speak for themselves. And I've got news for you, Christian. If your faith isn't changing your life enough to make a difference in the world, you've got bigger problems than NBC or a few "offensive" tshirts on Threadless. Daniel's solution in the book of Daniel in the Bible was to doggedly worship God in his own way, and let his life be a quiet and steady witness of his faith. His devotion produced a living and real goodness that even won the heart of the King in the end. And all of this happened because he was not foolish enough to try to change Babylon, but rather changed himself. and yeah, as for the tshirt... uh, can see you worked hard on it, but i wouldnt wear it, sorry! i like the font and colour choice tho! |

Wow, very interesting comments. Beleive it or not, I happen to be a Christian. Am I making fun of my beliefs? A bit, yes. Becuase I think this is how a lot of non-Christians view Christianity - as a scary, threatening thing that will not stop until it has taken over. Look out world!
Jesus hung out with the hard working fishermen, the tax collectors, the prostitutes, the sick and the poor. He chastised the religious leaders for being elitests, controling, unsimpathetic. I believe he'd hanging with the DND players and the goths and the punks today - not becuase he approves of all of their actions or ideas, but becuase he would want to let them know that someone cares, will listen, can help, can laugh with them. The church is called the body of Christ - right now a lot of people around the world view that body as blood-drenched, beaten and scary. As the "body" of Christ we should be the ones walking in his shoes, taking his place, doing the things he would do. It says a lot that people think "Christians" will beat them up - what do you suppose gave them that idea? I don't think this will get printed either, but it sure has been a cool social experiment. |

props to HalfAcreDay and taz-pie for at least expressing a more well rounded Christian response than "Jesus + zombies = 0" Personally I like it as a commentary on how not only the world views Christianity but also on the state of the church as the body of Christ in many ways. I cant say that I would wear it to church but I doubt that it would get printed anyway.
4 for the design...i love the text and the drawing is well done too. Also 5 for bringing up a debate that did not turn into calling each other names and referencing other peoples mothers. |

Obviously the Christians who are complaining about this shirt being offensive are not paying attention to the text on the shirt. Yes, Jesus is a "zombie" in this shirt. But read the text... Jesus DID rise from the grave!!! AND Jesus wants your soul!!! Cause he wants to save you and he loves you!! That's what makes the shirt so clever! It's not a demonic or evil portrayal of Jesus at all. It goes back to the designer's inspiration-- Jesus must've looked a bit off rising from the grave and all. Maybe take out some of the blood? I think that is a bit exaggerated. Besides that, congrats to you on being different! Many shirts on here rely on overdone puns, but this one is very witty!

My first reaction: I NEED this shirt! The '50s B-movie vibe is perfect! Then I worried: technically, the shirt says exactly what Christians believe, and I wouldn't want anyone thinking I was pro-Jesus. Reading everyone's comments, however, has reassured me that some folks will have a knee-jerk, negative reaction to this shirt, and others will immediately appreciate the humor--both great results, as far as I'm concerned. Print it up, Threadless, and I'll have presents for all my friends.

I live in the bible belt; wear slayer, gwar, melvins, and misfits shirts. I've yet to be beat up or harassed for a t-shirt. Hell i've said some pretty offensive things, guess what, no beat downs. Personally I don't care for the submission; nothing to do with religion, sterotypes, or shock value(which i feel is the driving force behind this). one reason he looks a little too much like bob marley. |

I defended whoever posted the Jesus on the rings design and I will defend this one. I agree with the poster above who made the notes that some Christians could use a little dose of humor, but I'd say the same for a lot of Atheists and hard lefties. I think it's fantastic that they noted that religious and spiritual devotion should be self affirming, that we have no control over how others percieve or interpret the world and its values so we should be more concerned with our own moral well being than what someone else prints on a t-shirt, whether it's for or against what we believe. I think a lack of sense of humor is the first sign that something is wrong in any relationship.
That being said, I love the design, but I can clearly see how others would find extreme offense in the image of a decaying Jesus, and frankly I wouldn't blame them. But I wouldn't blame anyone who wanted to wear the shirt. 4 no buy |

There are way too many comments to read but I'll put in my two cents anyway. Basically I agree with kk007's comment above... it's sad seeing Christians damning others to hell for shirt designs. That kind of behavior isn't setting a good example for believers at all nor is is demonstrating God's message of forgiveness.
God does indeed have a sense of humor and although a lot of designs here try to be offensive on purpose and stir up arguments, I'm just not getting that type of vibe from this one. Even though it's not the type of thing I would wear, as a Christian I think it's an amusing design and wasn't meant to be sacrilegious. So everyone quit arguing... both the christians for being offended, and the non-christians for wanting to piss them off. It's no wonder religion causes huge fights and wars, we can't even get along enough to be civil about a t-shirt design. |

this shirt is amazing, i wouldnt wear it personally but i would think it was funny if someone did its just a joke and if someone can't get it well thats there lose. like other ppl said if your to uptight to relax and understand the humor (and truth based on the story of resurrection - after all words [like zombie] are just symbols/meanings for things and in this case zombie technically was what jesus was) then thats their problem. even if it intended to be an offensive tee its only expressing how they truly feel (some ppl have faith, others don't, and this shirt just allows the other side to be preached) funny how its still being talked about almost two years later. p.s.- even though its already been done before i give you props on this variation i rate this a 4

What kills me is most non-Christians lump the rest of us into the same category as the Jim Jonses and abortion clinic bombers. No real Christian is going to beat someone up for wearing that t-shirt. All the Christians who are offended...lighten up. God has a sense of humor or he wouldn't have given us one (we are made in his image after all). Just look at the duck-billed platypus. I'd wear this shirt because I think it is funny and, as a Christian, may have the opportunity to talk to someone about Jesus who I may not normally have had the chance. Print...I Want!
