There are a few more color options in my profile post, "Durp! I mean URB!"



The breakdown:

It's an audio cassette with the reel to reel spools replaced by a record (with player needle) and a hard disk (with read head). I decided to combine all 3 objects by using the similar circle shape found in each object. Behind the lineart is an audio waveform. I added the graphic so that the extra color would make the design more interesting, while still playing to the music theme. The waveform also fits with the design because it is a common visual when editting and creating music on the computer.

really freakin coool concept, although im not sure it works as a design... everything else about it is technicaly well done, and really clever.



its just hard to fully understand i think, at least for me when looking at it.

Its such a cool image, but without the explanation, its so hard to realise what the hard disk is. If only people were more intelligent.

I like it on slate the best.

this is amazing. i want it so so bad. 5... and if there was any number higher, than i would give it that.

i hate it when a designer waters down his work by "breaking it down" for his audience. don't assume we are stupid. and if we can't look at your design and feel the concept behind it, then your design is flawed. you should never have to "break down" your design in order for people to "get it." take staffell for example. if only HE were more intelligent. this design is just not for him. but i looked at the piece and it seemed obvious what your idea was. then i was insulted by you describing it to me.

It's more like, I'm trying to show my intention. This is WHY i put this here and that there.

^^^ whatever mr. high and mighty take a fuckin # and order of cup of shut the fuck up! half the twats on this site need to be spoon fed cutsy catchy piss anyway so I completely see why kevin had to offer an explanation other than the fact he just wanted to. any designer is fully entitled give a description about their work.

very cool idea but I hate the wave file in the background, otherwise a buy because it's a very interesting take on a burnt out subject

Yes yes yes. Very nicely done. I love the turn table and hard disk. I hope people see and know what it is. Even if they don't it's a stong design.

i absolutly love it. at first glimps i was like, great, its just a cassete, but after reading the explaination i looked at it closer and realised those little details. i would buy it on grey definatly

Anyway, at first glance i was ready to hate on this because cassette/dj designs have already been beat to death to hell and back. But overall, as someone else said you took cliche subject matter and gave it that extra little twist.



Personally, i think it would look nice though with the waveform being in colour to break up the monochrome scheme. Alas, it is a bit hard to make out the HD in the design....

I would like to see it rotated 45 degrees - might be easier to understand - maybe not. Very cool concept, though.
