I got the idea during a rough part of a relationship from Mariah Carey's "Butterfly" song. This is my first design - hope you all like it! Personally, I'd love to have it haha. Also, a special thanks to my brother, Kelly for all his help :)

I really like this design...only suggestion I might make would be to give the butterfly some wind patterns and center its body up more between it's wings.

This is really impressive for a first submission, and I like the sentiment that inspired the design. Holding a butterfly in your hands would be a short-lived but pleasant experience, as some relationships are.



I like the contrast between the detail on the figure of the man and the butterfly silhouette. The only slight alteration that could be made is to centre the b



Anyway, hope that’s of help. I’d like to see it get printed!

I agree about the colors - it looks pretty good on just about all the colors, save black - the ones shown are just an attempt to cover a wide range of colors without getting to extreme (such as banana - looks good on the shirt, but I'm not a huge fan of flamboyant colors, on my at least)



As for the butterfly's body - I see your's and mike's point, but to be honest I kind of like it that way. To me it makes it look more like the butter fly is flying - almost as if its flying off the shirt...

I...umm....don't really like it.

It's a little bit of the overall feeling I get from it. But, to narrow it down,

1) The design is a bit big, which throws me off.

2) his hands look very....flat, and a bit too big for the body. They also look almost detatched, which I don't like. I don't know, if you just played with the angle and size of them some, I think I would like it better.



And also, although I wouldn't score based on this or anything, I'm not fond of Mariah Carey at all.



I do like the idea, however. I just think it needs to be tweaked a little.

a bit cheesy all that (poems and stuff) i think, but i like the design, $4

ummm i liked this when i thought it was sarcastic. then i read the note from the designer, and now i think it's ridiculous. if anything to make it better... lose the tear. 2

not fond of the idea, although the design is laudable; some changes i would suggest, however:



--perhaps tilt the hands so that they are a little flatter, so that perspective is not so...unusual. that and/or add shirt-cuffs for perspective.

--take the tear away. please.

--the face looks a bit...odd; something in the vectoring, maybe, and the face-blending-into-chin is a bit jarring.



otherwise, i like the perspective of the body and the placement of his feet. blue, white, or grey for better contrast.

sorry: for clarification--not fond of the idea that this was inspired by mariah carey, not of the idea itself, which, while a bit trite, is by far less used than the other musically-inspired creations on threadless.

The hands seem a little ... too straight. They are just so ... just there. It's hard to say. But maybe seperate them a little, make them tilted, whatever.



The tear is a little too much.



Just the man and the butterfly would be fine.

but i wanted to tell you i love it.

it has so much emotion in it and you can really tell what your feeling.

It's a beautiful design. I'm not sure I'd wear it personally, but I'd love to see someone I know wear it.
