can't we all just get along? And by "get along" I mean "save big money on a new living room set."

Thanks for all the awesome submissions! This was a lot of fun, and you're all crazy creative people. Thanks for participating!

OK, enough stalling, it's time to turn the winners out to pasture...
*drumroll*

Hey ya'll!

So Horsefacedee and I are throwing a slogan contest and we want YOU to throw your hat in the ring!

Theme: Horse-related in some way.
Prizes: Home-made fig jam provided by Gtoast to as many winners as we decide on
Ends:April 21st

If you feel like submitting a horse-related design, we'll judge/promote that too! Cuz horses are awesome. Heckyeah.

Bold/permalink your entries. Also, if I like your slogan I may ask if I can put it on a shirt to promote my horse farm in/around the Chapel Hill, NC area. If I use it, I'll of course send you one free of charge.

That about sums it up. Good luck!
Some folks at the barn have suggested that I should make up shirts for them to buy w/ our name on it. I'm all for the idea, and looking into setting up a cafe press shop to suit these needs.

Anyone have any experience with them? Good bad indifferent? Are there cafe-press alternatives I should go with instead?

Any help would be much appreciated.
:)
For the first time in a long time, I has new sloans.

Will you be so kind as to vote on them?
Or at least give me some constructive criticism or somethin'.

Thanks, you rock!

More sloagnss!
According to public records from the Virginia Department of Agriculture, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals killed 2,124 dogs and cats last year at their Virginia headquarters.

2,124 adoptable animals put to death. That's more than one dog or cat killed every 4 1/2 hours.

Want to know how many PETA was able to find adoptive homes for?

After canceling plans and waiting around all day, he didn't clear any land by burning. Which is good, because it was a fairly windy day. But, at the same time, now I don't know *when* he's going to try anything. I'll let you know when there's more to tell.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

The Background

My douche neighbor has a tendency to have his burn pile about 25 feet from my property line. I called the FD, turns out as long as the fire's on his property, it can go right up to the line legally before I can do anything about it.

He also has a tendency to burn things that are not legal in the state for open burning - plastic, recyclable cardboard, treated lumber, etc. Now this I *can* call the FD about, because it's not legal. Last but not least, he leaves it unattended, which is also not allowed.

And to make matters worse, his burn pile spot is less than 100 feet from my barn full of horses and hay and wood shavings and other combustibles.

A few months back we got into a shouting match (mostly him swearing and throwing a fit, from what I hear he's got a bit of the gene) that ended up in the fire department being called. Our only request was that the move his burn pile, or AT LEAST give us notice so that we can make sure we're home to monitor the situation.

FAST-FORWARD TO TODAY

So he sparks up his burn pile, same old spot, same old illegal burn materials. I went out to take pictures and observe his pile, and he informs me he'll be clearing about an acre of land adjacent to mine tomorrow by burning it.

Called the FD, sure enough to clear land by burning, it must be further than 1000 feet from my house. GIS says it's 300 ft or so.

The Question!

When he starts his fire tomorrow, do I call the Fire Department?

We're already on poor terms, but this would *really* piss the guy off for sure. And we are in rural Alamance County, where firearms are prevalent. Furthermore, I wouldn't want him doing things that might impact our lives negatively.

Is keeping the status quo worth risking a brush fire taking out our farm? Is putting out his illegal fire worth risking getting harassed or shot?

Input much appreciated!
where you know you should sleep because the longer you stay up the worse you'll feel the next day, but you don't really want today to be over because you don't feel like you've accomplished enough for the day, so you're going to stay up and be so tired tomorrow that it's even less productive than today was?

Yeah.
Looks like the religious kooks and hypocrites are at it again, this time threatening to kill the director of a new documentary which details the lives of religious homosexuals.

The new documentary will be shown on BBC's Channel 4, and will document the everyday struggle for acceptance by several homosexuals who are also devoutly religious. Religious leaders through the nation have condemned the film, including one preahcer quoted as saying "These people should not be confessing their sins to the television cameras. They should be doing it in private to God and seeking forgiveness."

The director of the film now says she's received death threats, and calls for the film to be banned.

It's not the first time Channel 4 has stirred up religious controversy surrounding homosexuality. In a 2007 documentary, they secretly filmed two preachers calling for the death of gays. The first merely postulated "If I were to call homosexuals perverted, dirty, filthy dogs who should be murdered, that's my freedom of speech, isn't it?", while the second actively called for people to "take that homosexual and throw him off a mountain."

I haven't submitted any photos. I guess I don't want free money.

All about me

Can't draw for beans. But I'm getting better at sloganing!

And I'm the lesser brother of stevetrpi, as shown on "Spoilt" in his gallery. He doesn't want to be associated with me, but too late now, sucka!
