I'm planning to go to the US with my flatmate, the only fix thing we have so far is this: http://www.punkrockbowling.com/ (weekend in Vegas at a concert). We are thinking about flying to Nashville and drive from there towards Dallas and fly from there to Vegas. Is that doable in five days? Anybody been around there? Any tips?
After Vegas, we probably go to Grand Canyon and then fly back from Los Angeles, haven't figured out what to do in between yet :)
So it looks right now like I'll be moving to the US around June. Is anybody from here from around there? I know ladykat is, but somebody else?

Can anybody recommend any US sites to order photobooks? I mean those where you upload your own pictures and arrange them and stuff. I know local sites, but since my bf is now in the US, it would be easier to send it to him directly than pay for shipping twice..
I haven't really been around much lately.. Last year was a little crazy.. finished my PhD in August and was sort of in a trance after.. now I'm trying to figure out what to do with my life.. seems like I might be moving to Berkley (to work here: http://www.lbl.gov/) some time this year.. which is great, but my bf will go to Princeton so he'll be fucking far away.. Not sure how we'll manage that..

So it is kind of crazy, but I won two tickets to go to New York and I'm now going to spend my second Christmas in a row in NY :) but this time with my mother.. and in a hotel (last time I stayed with my boyfriend at his sisters place in Brooklyn)..
I didn't really do too much really touristy things last time so we have to catch up a little now :) Any suggestions? I reserved a hotel, but can still change it, any suggestions? I'm really exited :D

So I might be applying for a postdoc in Boston at the MIT. Is anybody from around there? How is Boston? Should I do it? My boyfriend will probably be in Princeton which is so much further than now, but still close enough I hope.

It's 8:20PM and I'm still in the office because I have to hand in my thesis in two weeks.. every part of my arms and shoulder hurts from writing..

It started in March with my mother being run into while skiing and breaking her upper arm bone. She still can't use her hand properly.. Then a month ago my dad had a fissure (or whatever it is in English) in his aorta and had to have emergency open hearth surgery and is now in rehab. Today my brother had a bike accident and they are not sure yet if he needs surgery, they will see tomorrow.. He is in Germany (about 3-4 hours by car away).. My dad talked to him, but could barely understand him..
Luckily I have no more siblings.. Probably I'm next then.. it's not like I'm a little busy and have to hand in my Phd Thesis in month or so.. sorry, rant over.. shit day today |
