when i was 6 i saw the neverending story for the first time.

in the end of the neverending story (1984) bastian needs to give the princess a new name or fantasia will dissapear forever.

yes. ok so we all remember this.

so he wants to yell out his mothers name 'my mom had a beautiful name'

yes. ok so he finally yells her name into the storm, but you can never hear her name cause the storm is so loud.

now i replayed it probably 1,000 times but never got it. (and this was before DVD's captioning)
